Night watch

Keep the Mac awake until the agents are done

A Mac that goes to sleep stops the agents running on it. Night watch holds the Mac awake while there is work and lets it sleep when the work is finished.

When it holds

Night watch holds the Mac awake while an agent is working, while a decision is waiting on you, and while a scheduled run is going.

When none of those is true it lets go, and the Mac sleeps on its usual timer.

What it does to the Mac

It takes one macOS power assertion, the kind that prevents idle sleep, which is what caffeinate -i does. The display can still sleep, and Night watch does not stop the sleep that follows closing the lid.

pmset -g assertions lists it as "AgentNod night watch: agents are working" while it is held.

Turning it on

The switch is in the dashboard and on ⌘⇧W. It stays armed until you turn it off. Armed with nothing running, it holds nothing and the Mac may sleep.
